Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticised the Congress and the INDIA bloc for opposing the VB-G RAM G Act, claiming that their resistance stems from fear of exposure rather than concern for development.
He described the law as a transformative measure for rural India, designed to strengthen the rural economy and guarantee social security and dignity for labourers.
Yogi noted that during previous regimes, widespread corruption, wage delays, incomplete assets, and administrative inefficiencies plagued village panchayats.
He said the old system allowed ‘dig and fill’ practices that drained resources without benefiting citizens.
“Naturally, those whose interests have been hurt by the end of ‘dig and fill’ schemes are now raising an outcry,” he remarked, adding that these individuals ‘dug pits only to fill them again’.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the VB-G RAM G Act mandates biannual social audits, introduces a digital grievance redressal mechanism, and ensures audits comply with Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) standards.
These measures leave no room for corruption and guarantee accountability, he emphasised.
Yogi stated that the law benefits farmers, labourers, and villages by creating a transparent, efficient, and corruption-free governance system. He accused political opponents of opposing the Act not in the interest of the public, but to protect their old, corrupt practices.
The Chief Minister also drew attention to past failures, citing scams under the MGNREGA during the Samajwadi Party’s tenure, with ongoing CBI investigations. He reiterated that the VB-G RAM G Act represents a significant step towards building a ‘Viksit Bharat’, where rural empowerment drives state and national development.
CM Yogi concluded that the VB-G RAM G Act will reshape rural governance in Uttar Pradesh, guaranteeing transparency, accountability, and protection of citizens’ rights while ending exploitative practices.
