President Joe Biden’s administration will announce aid of new weapons for Ukraine worth $200 million on Tuesday, U.S. officials told Reuters. USA is soon to distribute $6.2 billion of funds discovered after a Pentagon accounting error over-valued billions of Ukraine aid, as per US official.
In May, when staff members used “replacement value” rather than “depreciated value” to tally the billions worth of ammunition, missiles, and other equipment transferred to Ukraine, it gave higher-than-warranted value, according to the Pentagon.
In order to continue its war to stop Russia’s invasion, Ukraine requires weapons that can be supplied from American stores in a matter of days or weeks. As a result, the accounting blunder benefited Kyiv by allowing for the shipment of more equipment.
As the last $25.5 billion worth authorized Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) that the administration may use to ship weapons from U.S. stocks in the event of an emergency, the beginning of using these newly discovered funds is significant, according to U.S. officials.
The U.S. officials added that Washington is presently working on a supplemental budget proposal to keep aiding Kiev.
