On Tuesday, a UN monitoring mission in Ukraine stated that Russia has detained over 800 civilians since the crisis began in February, with 77 being executed.
The research revealed that Ukraine had also breached international law by unjustly arresting people, albeit on a far smaller scale.

“The UN rights office identified patterns of conduct which have resulted in arbitrary detention, as well as further human rights violations including torture, ill-treatment, and enforced disappearances”, the report reads, adding that Russia’s detentions occurred in both Ukraine and Russia.
“While such conduct was found in relation to both parties to the conflict, there was a greater prevalence of conduct attributed to forces of the Russian Federation”, the report continued.
