Indian students pursuing their master’s degrees in France will now have the opportunity to obtain a work visa that spans five years, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his recent two-day visit to the country. This is a significant change from the previous policy, which granted students a two-year work visa upon completing their master’s studies. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Modi while addressing the Indian community at LA Seine Musicale in Paris.
During his speech, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the progress made since his last visit to France, where it was decided that Indian students studying in the country would receive a two-year post-study work visa. He then revealed the new development, stating that Indian students pursuing master’s degrees in France would now be eligible for a long-term post-study visa lasting five years.
Recent data from the Indian foreign ministry indicates a steady increase in the number of Indian students choosing France as their destination for higher education over the past three years. The country has become one of the top five choices for international students due to its affordability, scholarship opportunities, and high-quality education.
In addition to supporting Indian students, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of connecting academicians and professionals from France to India. He acknowledged the desire of these individuals to contribute their expertise and experiences to India and announced that studying in Indian institutions would be made easier for them.
Prime Minister Modi also expressed his appreciation for the warm reception he received during his visit, describing it as a special occasion since France was celebrating its National Day. He attended the National Day Parade alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, highlighting the strong and unbreakable friendship between India and France.
To further strengthen the strategic ties between India and France, Prime Minister Modi met with French Senate President Gerard Larcher. The Indian Prime Minister was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at the conference hall, where he engaged in discussions with Larcher. This meeting aimed to enhance the bilateral relationship between the two nations.
