Benjamin Netanyahu
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a televised announcement on Wednesday that Israel is planning a ground invasion of Gaza, but he declined to disclose any details on the timeframe or other details regarding the operation.
Netanyahu went on to say that the government’s special war cabinet, which includes the leader of one of the centrist opposition parties, would decide when forces would enter the Palestinian enclave held by the Islamist movement Hamas.
“We have already killed thousands of terrorists and this is only the beginning”, declared Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Simultaneously, we are preparing for a ground invasion. I will not elaborate on when, how, or how many. I will also not elaborate on the various calculations we are making, which the public is mostly unaware of and that is how things should be”, PM Netanyahu continued.
Following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israeli communities, Israel has carried out four days of heavy bombardment of the densely populated Gaza Strip. According to Gaza’s health ministry, the bombardments have killed over 6,500 Palestinians.
Netanyahu, who has so far refused to accept blame for the security breaches that led to the Hamas attack, stated that everyone responsible would be held accountable.
“The scandal will be fully investigated”, PM Netanyahu noted.
“Everyone will have to give answers, me too. But all this will happen only after the war”, PM Netanyahu added.
