Zodiac Matches That Make The Best Couples
The 46-year-old Uttar Pradesh, India resident Smita Srivastava recently became the living person with the longest hair in the Guinness World Records. Her hair officially measured at an impressive 7 feet and 9 inches. She has not cut her hair since the age of 14. Ms. Srivastava was inspired to keep her long hair in the style that became iconic for Hindi actresses in the 1980s. Her commitment to keeping her hair long has now placed her in the record books.
“In Indian culture, goddesses traditionally had very long hair. In our society, it is considered inauspicious to cut hair, so that is why women used to grow hair,” Smita explained. “Long hair enhances the beauty of women”, she added.
Guinness World Records states that Smita typically washes her hair twice a week. Every time, the complete procedure can take up to three hours, including washing, drying, detangling, and styling. She washes it for thirty to forty-five minutes, dries it with a towel, and then uses her hands to untangle it, which usually takes two hours.
“I lay a sheet down on which I detangle my hair while standing on my bed,” Smita said.
She combs her hair before braiding or tying it up into a bun after it has dried completely and become detangled.
Smita discloses that whenever she walks outside with her hair hanging loose, people are “amazed.” People find it hard to believe that someone with such long hair can exist, she says, expressing shock at the unusual length she has kept up over the years.
“People come to me, touch my hair, take pictures, and take selfies with me, and they often inquire about the products I use, as my hair is beautiful.
“I tell them what I apply to my hair, and they express their intention to do the same to achieve healthy hair.”
Smita says she used to dream of holding this Guinness World Records title, so she is ecstatic to have it now.
