Wrestlers Meet Amit Shah; Minister says, “Let Law Take Its Course”

Wrestlers’ Protest has been going on from April. Top wrestlers of country had a meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday who have been protesting against the BJP MP and chief of the country’s wrestling federation Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.

Meeting lasted for more than an hour

According to the reports, meeting started around 11 pm which lasted for more than an hour. Bajarang Punia, Sakshee Malikkh, Sangita Phogat and Satyawart Kadian attended the meeting. The wrestlers asked for an impartial probe and a strong action to be taken against the WFI Chief who is accused of sexual harassment including a minor.

Let the law take its own course: Home Minister

Home Minister told the wrestlers to let the law take its own course and it stays same for everyone. As per the sources, wrestlers met Amit Shah after their five-day deadline for action against the wrestling federation chief ended on Saturday.

Wrestlers stopped from protesting at Jantar Mantar site

The wrestlers said that their protest was ignored after which they decided to immerse their medals in Ganga. However, they dropped their plan after the intervention of Farmer leader Naresh Tikait. The Delhi Police accused the wrestlers of rioting during protest march to parliament even after repeated requests. Several protestors were detained by the Police. Images and videos of wrestlers pinned on ground, pushed by the police got viral on social media sent shockwaves across the nation. However, the wrestlers were stopped from protesting at the Jantar Mantar site.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s statement

Amid the protest BJP MP, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh said, “If a single allegation against me is proven, I will hang myself. If you (wrestlers) have any evidence, present it to the Court, and I am ready to accept any punishment.”
