UP Woman Judge Receives Death Threat, Case Registered

The judge asserted in her police report that the death threat letter might have been motivated by claims of sexual harassment.

A lady judge reported to the Uttar Pradesh Police that she had received a threatening letter following which a case was registered by the officials.

The female judge claimed last year that a district judge had harassed her sexually, following which she had received a threat letter months later. The judge asserted in her police report that the death threat letter might have been motivated by claims of sexual harassment.

She stated that sexual harassment case still remains pending with the Prayagraj High court.

The judge also suggested that the police examine CCTV footage of the post office where the letter was sent, citing the possibility that the name, phone number, and address on the envelope were fraudulent.

SHO Kotwali Nagar Anoop Dubey acknowledged receiving her complaint and informed her that a case had been filed in accordance with the applicable provisions of the Indian Penal Code, and that additional legal action will be taken.

In an attempt to apprehend the accused, he further stated that CCTV video will be examined closely.
