Terrorist killed in Encounter in Jammu-Kashmir’s Kulgam, 1 Police Official Injured

A significant infiltration attempt was thwarted by security forces the Kupwara just days prior to the launch of the counterterrorism operation.

On the intervening night of Monday, a police officer was injured and a terrorist was killed in an encounter in the Kulgam area of Jammu & Kashmir. According to the police, the terrorist who was neutralized had incriminating items, arms and ammunitions were recovered from him, and his identity was being determined. The encountered late on Monday night in the Kulgam district’s Hoowra village.

Kashmir Police Zone tweeted: “Encounter has started at Hoowra village of #Kulgam district. Police & Security Forces are on the job. One JKP personnel got injured. Operation in progress. Further details shall follow.”

Further Kashmir Police added, “01 local terrorist neutralised. Identification & affliation being ascertained. Incriminating materials including arms & ammunition recovered. Search going on.”

A significant infiltration attempt was thwarted by security forces along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara area of north Kashmir just days prior to the launch of the counterterrorism operation.

In a coordinated operation between the police and the army in Kupwara’s Machhal sector’s Kala Jungle, the terrorists were neutralized. The encounter occurs a week after security personnel shot and killed five terrorists at Jumgund Keran while thwarting an infiltration attempt. Kashmir Zone Police tweeted: “In a joint operation, army and police have killed four terrorists in Kala Jungle of Machhal sector in Kupwara who were trying to infiltrate to our side from POJK (Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir).”
