Telengana Police To Use Trained Eagles To Curb Drone Threat During VIP Gatherings

This is the first time that an eagle has been used for an operation of this kind by any police organization in the nation.

Telangana Police is about to make history by using trained eagles to combat the growing threat posed by drones during VIP visits and public gatherings.

Telangana Police has been training three eagles for the aim of intercepting hostile drones for the past three years, taking a lead from European countries like the Netherlands and France.

In a recent demonstration at the Integrated Intelligence Training Academy (IITA) in Moinabad, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, senior IPS officers including Director General of Police Ravi Gupta saw how trained eagles successfully brought down drones.

This is the first time that an eagle has been used for an operation of this kind by any police organization in the nation.

It has been reported that the Indian Army targets enemy drones with trained kites.

According to reports, the number of occurrences involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) carrying weapons, ammunition, and drugs across the India-Pakistan border has more than doubled since 2021, according to the Border Security Force (BSF).
