Shraddha Walkar Murder Case

Shraddha Walkar’s father, Vikas Madan Walkar, said in court on Monday that Aaftab Poonawala had told him that he had strangled Shraddha Walkar with his own hands. The court was hearing witness in the shocking murder case.

In front of the court of additional sessions judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar, the public prosecutor cross-examined the father as a witness for the prosecution. On August 5 his testimony will continue.

The father claimed that on November 11, 2022, he had visited the Mehrauli police station, where he was questioned by policemen about whether he recognised Aaftab. “I replied in affirmative and said this is Aaftab who was living with my daughter for the last three years. I also informed police that he quarrelled with my daughter and beat her on several occasions,” he told the court.

Vikas claims that when Aaftab was brought to the police station, the officers called him there as well. The victim was strangled first and then Aaftab got a saw, cut off her wrists, and put them in a trash bag thereafter reveals Shraddha’s father.

Aaftab was questioned by police about transferring money from Shraddha’s account on May 20 (two days after the murder), according to Vikas. He said, “Aaftab seemed perplexed and said no such thing had happened.

“On my inquiry from Aaftab as to where my daughter is, he replied she is no more. I was shocked and started feeling dizzy. After some time, when I recovered, Aaftab started revealing how he killed my daughter. He told me that he had a fight with my daughter on May 18, 2022 at their residence in Chattarpur and further informed me that he had strangled Shraddha with his own hands,” added the father.

He also revealed to the court that when Shraddha’s family objected to her decision to continue living with Aaftab in 2019, she argued that as a 25-year-old woman, she was capable of making her own choices. Aaftab is suspected of strangling Shraddha, who was in live-in relationship with the suspect.
