Arvind Kejriwal’s appeal against his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in the Delhi liquor policy case has been granted urgent hearing by the Supreme Court. Justice Sanjiv Khanna, Justice MM Sundresh, and Justice Bela Dwivedi will sit on a special bench to hear the case of the Delhi Chief Minister who was arrested. The hearing will take place in the midst of anti-Kejriwal rallies in Delhi, which started after the party called for a nationwide uproar. The INDIA bloc has been invited to join the protest by the AAP.

The first Chief Minister to be arrested while in office is Kejriwal. Reportedly, he was unable to sleep during the night in ED’s custody, so his family brought him blankets and medications from home.

On Thursday night, following a search and interrogation by the Enforcement Directorate, Kejriwal was taken into custody from his home. After being brought to the federal agency’s headquarters, he passed the night there.

Leader of the AAP and minister for Delhi, Atishi, stated on Friday that the party is “concerned” for Arvind Kejriwal’s security. Arvind Kejriwal is a Z+ beneficiary. At a press conference on Friday, she stated, “Arvind Kejriwal is Z+ protectee. He is under central government’s ED’s custody.” She further added, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to eliminate the opposition.”

According to Gopal Rai, Kejriwal’s parents have been placed under house arrest, and the AAP is unable to get in touch with them.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, the BJP slammed Kejriwal and called him a thief(chor). The BJP also posted an old video of Kejriwal in which he threatened to put Manish Sisodia and himself in jail if they were to be accused of crime tomorrow. Since the alleged Delhi liquor policy case began, Sisodia has already been imprisoned.

The officials also confiscated Kejriwal’s and his family members’ cell phones, according to sources.

Following the Delhi High Court’s decision on Thursday to deny Arvind Kejriwal interim protection from coercive action on the nine summons he had received from the Enforcement Directorate, Kejriwal was placed under custody.
