Rajasthan: Two Cops Involved In Gangrape And Killing Of a 20-Year-Old Dalit Girl

In Rajasthan’s Bikaner district, a Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped and killed, causing the suspension of two police officers for their alleged involvement in the incident, officials said on Wednesday.

The body of the 20-year-old girl was found in the Khajuwala area on Tuesday as per the statement of  Inspector General of Police (IG) Om Prakash

“Her family members have accused three persons, including two constables of Khajuwala police station, of raping the girl. Both the policemen have been suspended immediately and the matter is being investigated,” he said.

The victim’s family has demanded that all of the suspects be taken into custody right away and has refused to give permission to perform a post-mortem examination. In addition, they held a “dharna.”

Tejaswani Gautam, the superintendent of police (SP), stated that efforts were being made to persuade the victim’s family and other relatives to allow a postmortem.

According to the authorities, a case was filed at the Khajuwala police station under several sections of the Indian Criminal Code, including 376-D (gang rape).

The police officers Manoj and Bhagirath, as well as the third accused, are accused by the victim’s family members of taking her to the house where they gang raped and killed her.

Police cited call records in claiming that the victim and the main suspect were connected. The two constables’ roles are currently being investigated.

Additional SP Deepak Sharma is investigating the incident.

The Ashok Gehlot-led administration is under fire from the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the event.

Rajendra Rathore, the leader of the opposition (LoP), stated that the government’s reputation had been tarnished by police officers’ involvement in the rape and murder of a girl in Khajuwala, Bikaner.

The suspension of the constables is merely a formality, due to which the family members of the girl are resentful towards the police administration, he added.

“It is unfortunate that till now both the accused constables have not been arrested. I demand the state government to take strict action against the guilty policemen in this case and arrest them,” he said.

Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, the minister of food and civil supplies, stated in Jaipur that the police were looking into the situation and would take appropriate action against those responsible.
