A major security lapse incident took place during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s roadshow in Mysuru as the PM narrowly escaped a mishap after a mobile phone was tossed at his vehicle. The incident happened in poll-bound Karnataka as he wound up a two-day whirlwind election tour.
During the roadshow, several people including BJP supporters gathered on both sides of the road to greet Prime Minister Modi. PM Modi was on a specially designed vehicle and reciprocated the greetings by waving to people. People also showered flowers and waved BJP flags along the route as an expression of support.
The footage showed how the mobile phone landed on the bonnet of the vehicle he was travelling on and they are being flagged by the PM. However, the rally continued, and PM Modi directed it to the attention of the Special Protection Group sleuths, who were accompanying him.
Taking notes from the incident, the police said that the mobile phone was hurled out of ‘excitement’ by a woman BJP worker who had no ‘ill-intention’ to harm the prime minister.
Speaking to the media, ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) Alok Kumar said, “The lady (whose phone fell on PM’s vehicle) was a BJP worker. The SPG people returned it to her later. In the excitement (of the event), it was thrown and she had no (ill) intention but we are trying to trace the lady because the phone was handed over to her by the SPG sleuths.”

During the investigation, the woman said it happened by mistake. Adding further, the BJP worker said that she was throwing flowers at the Prime Minister, but she did not pay attention and accidentally the mobile also went away with the flower.
In the mega roadshow, PM Modi was flanked by Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha and former ministers K S Eshwarappa and S A Ramadas as the vehicle wound through the streets. The PM had flown into the heritage city from Beluru in Hassan district after addressing his third public meeting of the day in the state.
