PM Modi Extends Navratri Wishes; Seeks Maa Skandamata’s Blessings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday extended greetings to the nation on the fifth day of Shardiya Navratri, dedicated to Maa Skandamata, and prayed for love and harmony in every family.

In a post on X, PM Modi shared a devotional message, saying, “Salutations again and again to the Goddess who abides in all beings in the form of power.”

He also shared a bhajan by Vijay Durga and wished that the blessings of Maa Skandamata, revered for her maternal affection and tenderness, would fill every family with love and harmony.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Goddess’s blessings would strengthen family bonds and bring happiness to people across the country.

The fifth day of Navratri honours Maa Skandamata, the fifth form of Goddess Durga. Devotees worship her as the embodiment of motherhood, compassion, affection and purity. She also represents the Vishuddha Chakra, which symbolises clarity and purity.

Navratri, meaning ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, celebrates Goddess Durga and her nine forms, collectively known as Navdurga. Across India, devotees visit temples, perform rituals and offer prayers to seek the Goddess’s protection, prosperity and blessings.

During the nine-day festival, devotees offer flowers, fruits and bhog to the Goddess. Many also offer yellow and saffron-coloured items to Maa Skandamata.

Artists traditionally depict the Goddess seated on a lion, holding lotus flowers, with her son Kartikeya on her lap. Devotees seek her blessings for spiritual growth, family happiness and success in life.

Through his Navratri message, PM Modi highlighted love, harmony and compassion, urging people to seek the Goddess’s blessings during the auspicious festival.
