India on Wednesday condemned attacks on civilian infrastructure in Saudi Arabia, describing them as ‘totally unacceptable’ and reaffirming its support for the kingdom’s sovereignty.
Addressing a media briefing in New Delhi, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and voiced hope for an early return to peace. He condemned repeated attacks, including the latest strike on Aramco headquarters.
Jaiswal said the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia remained in regular contact with the Indian community and was issuing safety advisories as the situation evolved.
Attacks on Riyadh International Airport and other airports disrupted flight schedules, affecting Indian travellers and airlines.
Services connecting Riyadh, Dammam, Medina and Jeddah experienced disruptions, although Saudi Arabian Airlines continued operating several flights between India and Saudi Arabia.
The embassy said it would provide updated information and assistance to passengers stranded by the disruptions.
The MEA spokesperson addressed the October 10 attack that injured 12 Indians, one of whom later died.
The embassy assisted the deceased’s family in conducting the last rites in Riyadh in accordance with their wishes. India’s ambassador attended the ceremony.
Of the 11 injured survivors, three have been discharged, while eight remain hospitalised. Four patients are receiving treatment in intensive care units. Embassy officials are visiting the injured and maintaining contact with their families.
The MEA reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting Indian nationals overseas.
The Indian Embassy urged nationals to remain calm and vigilant, stay indoors during aerial attacks and follow instructions issued by local authorities. It strongly advised the community against circulating or reposting videos and news related to the ongoing situation.
