The horrific train accident in Odisha on Friday claimed the life of around 300 people. More than 900 people were injured in the mishap. According to the reports of ANI, PM Narendra Modi convened a meeting to review the situation in relation to the rail accident. As per the reports, PM Modi has reached Odisha today. First, he will visit the site of the accident in Balasore and then he will visit the hospital in Cuttack.
Odisha Ministry of Railways issued a help line number
PM Modi expressed his grief over the train mishap and announced an ex-gratia of ₹ 2 lakh for the family of the dead and ₹ 50,000 for the injured from the PM’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). In the wake of train accident in Odisha Ministry of Railways has issued help line numbers.
Doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar dispatched to accident site
For better relief operations, two teams of doctors from AIIMS have been sent to Balasore & Cuttack, Union Health Minister tweeted, “Two teams of doctors from AIIMS Bhubaneswar have been dispatched for Balasore & Cuttack to assist in relief operations at the rail accident site in Odisha.” Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said, “he rescue operation has been completed and restoration work has started. We will thoroughly investigate this incident and will ensure such incidents don’t happen in future.”
West Bengal to provide financial assistance
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has also announced to provide financial assistance to affected family from Bengal.
Mamta Banerjee tweeted, “Railway provides Rs 10 lakh as compensation. We will provide Rs 5 lakh each to the people of our state and cooperate and work with the Railways and Odisha government until the work is complete.”
