Together with their partner Piyush, Preeti and Vineeta, two girls who went famous on social media for their Holi clips that showed them in the Delhi Metro and on the streets, are currently being sued. A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged by the Noida Police against them, and the scooter owner has been fined ₹80,500 in total.
The trio produced multiple Holi videos. In one video, Preeti, Vineeta, and Piyush are shown riding a pillion. The song “Ang Laga De” from the movie “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela” is playing in the background while they sit facing each other and play Holi with colors.
In a different video, Preeti is shown performing tricks on a moving scooter, which leads to an acciden when she tumbles off while Piyush applies the brakes.
In a third video, Preeti and Vineeta are seen coloring each other while seated on the Delhi Metro’s floor. The song “Ang Laga De” from the movie “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela” is also playing in the backdrop of this video.
The trio said they lacked the money to pay the penality levied by the Noida Traffic Police. They acknowledged their mistake and said they couldn’t afford fine. They made it clear that their goal was to make Instagram Reels rather than pull off pranks.
Vineeta said, “We were just making reels, there’s no problem with that. I want to apologise to everyone because I can’t afford to pay so much money myself. Where will I get so much money from? Please help me a little, at least reduce my challan, as my intention was not to hurt anyone.”
She added, “We made the video to celebrate Holi, but it’s not like we wanted to show the public something wrong. There’s nothing like that.”
Preeti revealed that she only stays in Delhi to create videos, and the most of her videos went viral on social media. She mentioned how her family’s financial instability has hampered her capacity to further her education and find employment.
Since more than two years ago, Vineeta has been creating reels. In order to support herself financially while following her passion for content production, she has been juggling odd jobs.
Piyush, who assists the two in filming reels and appears in a number of them as well, only finished class 12 schooling. He makes reels and makes between ₹6,000 and 7,000 a month from odd jobs.
The three admitted to make a grave error and vowed never to do it again. They added that while they didn’t think their video was offensive, they would not make similar stuff in the future social media if other thought it was. Vineeta, the owner of the scooter, says she got a call from the police, telling her that they will put her in jail if the penality is not paid.
