Mumbai: Four boys Drowned In Sea, One Saved
Officials in Mumbai said that four boys, ages 12 to 16, are believed to have drowned after they ventured into the choppy sea at Juhu on Monday while their friend had been rescued.
A Navy helicopter was launched at 8:20 p.m., according to a civic official, and a search operation is ongoing. A defence spokesperson stated that although diving teams are prepared, they are not currently being sent out due to dangerous sea conditions.
A group of five boys, aged between 12 and 16, entered the water at Juhu Koliwada in the western suburbs at around 5.30 p.m., according to him.
Because of the hazardous conditions, authorities have already advised residents and fishermen against going into the water before cyclone “Biparjoy” makes landfall on the Gujarat coast on June 15.
The group consisted of five boys, the official said. Civic authorities had initially been informed that six people had entered the Arabian Sea at Juhu.
He claimed that when the boys began to drown, they had travelled a half-kilometer from the seashore.
“One of the boys was rescued by a fisherman before the fire brigade arrived at the scene, while four others are still missing and a search operation is underway for them,” the official said.
He stated that the ambulances, fire department, police, and Mumbai civic body employees had all been sent to the scene.
According to the official, the high tide is making it difficult for Fire Brigade personnel to conduct the search, and divers from the Navy and Coast Guard have also been asked to assist.
The boys, according to him, live in the Santacruz suburbia Vakola area.
According to the official, the missing boys are Manish Yogesh Oganiya (12), Jay Roshan Tajbariya (15), Shubham Yogesh Oganiya (15), and Dharmesh Valji Faujiya (16).
