MP Danish Ali suspended from BSP for “anti-party” activities

Member of Parliament Danish Ali, who was the subject of a nasty exchange on the floor of the house recently, has been suspended from the Bahujan Samaj Party, which Mayawati leads. It has been stated that “anti-party activity” is the basis for the action taken against him. “You have received numerous warnings not to say or do anything that goes against the party’s policies, ideology, or discipline. However, you have been acting against the party consistently,” the BSP stated in a statement. The party whip binds an MP who is suspended.

The Amroha MP said he has “never done any kind of anti-party work” in response to the accusation made against him by his party.

“I have diligently tried to strengthen the BSP and has never done any kind of anti-party work. The people of my Amroha area are witness to this. I have definitely opposed the anti-people policies of the BJP government and will continue to do so. If doing this is a crime, then I have committed a crime and I am ready to face any punishment for it,” he told media this evening.

Mr. Ali emphasized that the party’s decision to reject him was “unfortunate” and thanked Mayawati for providing him with a Lok Sabha ticket.

After BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri used derogatory remarks about him in Parliament, Mr. Ali met with a number of influential opposition figures. In order to demand justice for Trinamool Congress leader Mahua Moitra, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha, he even staged a one-man protest outside Parliament yesterday.

The Amroha MP was spotted with a sign that read “don’t turn (the) victim into (the) culprit” draped around his neck.

“Decorum in Parliament died in September… it was bombed when Ramesh Bidhuri made those comments. And now they are saying this? Today, (Mahatma) Gandhi and Ambedkar are crying,” a visibly upset Ali told news agency ANI.
