Maharashtra: NCP leader’s car vandalised amid quota stir, 3 arrested

At the time of the incident, Minister Mushrif was not in the vehicle. Since then security has been increased at the minister’s home.

On Wednesday, an unidentified individual vandalised a car in Hasan Mushrif’s convoy, a politician from Maharashtra and leader of the NCP. Three persons were taken into custody by the Mumbai Police in relation to the incident.

At the time of the incident, Minister Mushrif was not in the vehicle. Since then security has been increased at the minister’s home.

In the video, two individuals are seen at the MLAs’ Mumbai home near Akashvani smashing the glass of the minister’s car and yelling slogans in support of Maratha reservation.

Following Tuesday’s pro-Maratha reservation demonstrations in Pune, more than 400 people were arrested by the city police for obstructing and setting fire to tyres on Pune-Bengaluru National Highway 48.

A senior Pune Police official stated that the process of identifying additional individuals is ongoing, with 10 people having been identified thus far. At Sinhgad Road Police Station, the demonstrators were charged under IPC sections 143, 146, 188, and 336.
