Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde declared that the state government supported the reservation as the all-party meeting to address the escalating Maratha quota agitation came to an end, according to news agency PTI.
A resolution requesting activist Manoj Jarange to end his indefinite fast was passed by leaders of the all-party meeting, which was presided over by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
Chief Minister Shinde stated that activist Jarange ought to work with the government to guarantee quota for the Maratha community.
He advised Marathas to exercise moderation, noting that the government required time to complete legal formalities before enacting the reservation.
CM Shinde, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, NCP President Sharad Pawar, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Vijay Wadettiwar, Leader of the Opposition in the legislative council Ambadas Danve, and others signed the resolution.
Over the past few days, violent incidents have been reported in numerous parts of the state.
In five Marathwada districts, state-run bus services have been completely discontinued. In Beed, protesters on Monday targeted the homes of political leaders, leading to the imposition of curfews and an Internet blackout in certain areas.
