LPG Cylinders Rates Decreased to Rs. 200 Under Ujjwala Scheme: Sources

After hiking the price of cylinders twice in May, Oil companies increased the price of LPG cylinders by Rs 50 in July.

On Tuesday, the union cabinet approved subsidizing LPG cylinders to Rs 200 additionally under Ujjwala scheme, now the beneficiaries will get a subsidy up to Rs 400 on 14 kg LPG cylinders, as per sources.

Taking into account the prices of non-subsidized LPG cylinder in Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai is Rs. 1,103, Rs. 1,129, Rs. 1,102.50, and Rs. 1,118.50 respectively.

After hiking the price of cylinders twice in May, Oil companies increased the price of LPG cylinders by Rs 50 in July. While rates of commercial LPG Gas was revised but domestic cooking gas rate still remain unchanged earlier this month. After the extreme increase in the price of basic food items like tomatoes and onions, the centre was slammed over rising inflation following government decided to decrease LPG rate.

Opposition alliance INDIA Bloc comprising of 26 political parties criticized the central government for not being able to control the price increase, and will surely take rising iflation as a major issue in upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.
