Leaders are making allegations and counter-allegations against each other ahead of Lok Sabha elections A statement of former PM Manmohan Singh has been in the news for the past few days regarding which PM Modi is attacking fiercely in election rallies. Now this same statement has been mentioned by Congress leader Rashid Alvi in an interview given to a news agency.
Congress leader Rashid Alvi said during an interview with news agency IANS that, “Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh never said that only Muslims have the right on all the resources of the country, rather he had said that those who are in the last row in the country, there are people standing, who are the most backward people, they have the right on the resources of this country, and definitely the Muslims of India are the most backward. Where can anyone have any objection to this?”
Rashid Alvi further said that “If backward people are not brought forward then the country can never become strong. “Backward people will have to be brought forward and they will have to be given equal status in the society.” Congress leader Rashid Alvi further said that BJP respects people with money, but does not respect the poor.
Former PM Dr. Manmohan Singh, while addressing the meeting of the National Development Council, said that “I believe that our collective priorities are very clear. There is also a need to invest in agriculture, irrigation, water resources, health, education, rural infrastructure, and make fresh schemes for SC and ST. Along with this, while making plans, it should also be kept in mind that minorities, especially Muslims, should get equal participation in development. They (Muslims) should have the first right on the country’s resources.
