Lucknow: In an effort to boost voter turnout, the Election Commission of India has initiated a voter signature campaign within the teachers’ community in Lucknow. As part of this campaign, a placard was set up at Sindhi Vidyalaya Girls Inter College in Alambagh, where teachers pledged to play their part in increasing the voting percentage by signing their names. Following the voter signature campaign on Tuesday, a discussion program on voter awareness was organized at Sindhi Vidyalaya Girls Inter College.
Darpan, the program coordinator, shared insights on the role of voters among women teachers from various inter colleges. Speakers at the event, including Sharad Chandra from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Cow Promotion Department, Dr. Dhananjay from the Social Harmony Head, and Nanak Chandra Lakhmani, former Vice President of Sindhi Academy and BJP leader, emphasized the importance of voting in the Lok Sabha elections. They urged people to cast their votes early in the morning on polling day and encouraged them to persuade their family and neighbours to do the same.
College Manager Parmanand Khatri, Principal Shobha Chadwani, and teachers took an oath to vote early in the morning and to encourage their family members to do so as well. They also pledged to motivate newly eligible voters, who have recently turned 18 and are studying in college, to exercise their right to vote.
