JMM Announces Hemant Soren’s Sister Anjani Soren As Candidate From Odisha’s Mayurbhanj Seat

Anjani is ready to challenge Naba Charan Majhi of the BJP and Sudam Marndi of the BJD, who was formerly leading the JMM in Odisha.

Anjani Soren, the sister of former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren, was formally announced by the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Wednesday as the party’s candidate for the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency in Odisha.

She is Shibu Soren’s daughter, the founder of JMM. Anjani is ready to challenge Naba Charan Majhi of the BJP and Sudam Marndi of the BJD, who was formerly leading the JMM in Odisha.

The BJP nominated Naba Charan Majhi, this time for the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha constituency, instead of Bisweswar Tudu, the existing MP and Union Minister.

Anjani Soren ran as a JMM candidate for the Mayurbhanj Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 general elections. With 1,35,552 votes, she came in third in the polls, which were won by Bisheswar Tudu of the BJP. With 42.1% of the vote, Bishweswar Tudu won the seat; the BJD came in second. In 2019, the Congress did not submit a candidate for the Lok Sabha seat of Mayurbhanj.
