The leader of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, has apparently been given eight Lok Sabha seats by the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) in Bihar, with the Lok Sabha elections just a few weeks away.
Sources said that Grand Alliance is also trying to get Chirag Paswan to join the Bihar Grand Alliance by applying pressure on him. In exchange for joining the Bihar Grand Alliance he has been offered eight Lok Sabha seats and two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
There is a persistent delay in seat sharing in the NDA, because of the disagreement between MP Chirag Paswan and his uncle and central minister Pashupati Paras.
According to sources that although neither Pashupati Paras nor Chirag Paswan are prepared, there is talk of handing them six seats in the NDA. According to Chirag Paswan’s petition, the Lok Janshakti Party should be entitled to six seats in the next Lok Sabha elections since the party was not split and their six MPs were elected using the same formula in 2019.
However, Pashupati Paras also asserts that since his party is a member of the National Lok Janshakti Party and five of the six MPs of the Lok Janshakti Party are currently with him, his claim is also legitimate with regard to six seats.
An additional conflict arises between an uncle and nephew regarding the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, as both wish to run. The Hajipur MP at the moment is Pashupati Paras, however Chirag Paswan has also declared his intention to run for the seat, invoking the legacy of his late father Ram Vilas Paswan. Chirag and Pashupati Paras are at odds over the Hajipur seat as well.
