Gujarat Congress MLA CJ Chavda Resigns Today, Got Upset Due To Party’s Stance On Ram Mandir

Following Chavda’s exit, the Congress party has 15 members in the 182-member Gujarat assembly. It’s anticipated that he’ll join BJP.

CJ Chavda, a senior Congress MLA for Gujarat, announced his resignation from the Assembly on Friday, citing his displeasure with the party’s stance on the Ram Mandir.

According to a State Assembly official, the three-time MLA from the Vijapur constituency gave his resignation to Speaker Shankar Chaudhary in Gandhinagar this morning.

What did Congress former MLA say?

Responding to why he resigned, CJ Chavda said, “I have resigned from Congress. I have worked in Congress for 25 years. The reason is that when the people of the whole country are joyous because of the Pran Pratishtha at Ram Mandir and there is a wave of joy among the people, instead of being a part of that wave of joy, the approach that this party (Congress) has shown is the reason for being upset.”

He further added, “We should support the works and policies of the two huge leaders of Gujarat PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. But I would not have been able to do that while being in Congress. Hence, I resigned.”

15 Congress members left in Gujarat Assembly

Following Chavda’s exit, the Congress party has 15 members in the 182-member Gujarat assembly. It’s anticipated that he’ll join BJP. But as of yet, there’s no confirmation. Chirag Patel, a Congress MLA from Khambhat in the Anand district, has already quit from the Assembly.

In the meantime, on January 22, the Ram Temple will host the “Pran Pratishtha” event. The following day is anticipated to be opened for public.
