Government To Construct 2 Crore Houses In Upcoming 5 Years To Meet Demands Of Rising Population: FM Sitharaman

FM said that the government was very near to the aim of constructing three crore houses, even after the difficulties brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.

In order to meet the demands brought on by the rise in the number of families, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Thursday that the government would construct two crore houses over the course of the next five years as part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Gramin Yojana.

While presenting the budget BJP leader Sitharaman said, “Two crore more houses will be built in the next five years to meet the requirements arising from the increase in the number of families.”

She stated that the government was very near to the aim of constructing three crore houses, even with the difficulties brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Despite the challenges of the pandemic, PM Awas Gramin Yojana’s implementation continued. We are close to achieving the target of three crore houses. And two crore more houses will be taken up in the next five years to meet the requirements arising from the increase in the number of families,” she said.

According to the Finance Minister, the government envisions a prosperous, modern nation called Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047 that offers opportunities for every individual and every region to realize their full potential.

“Earning Sabka Vishwas, the next five years will be of unprecedented development and of building a developed India by 2047. The trinity of democracy, demography, and diversity backed by Sabka Prayas has the potential to fulfill aspirations of every Indian,” Sitharaman said.
