Milind Deora, who left the Congress party earlier on Sunday, is now going to join the Shiv Sena, which is led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde.
This occurs a day after Deora denied on Saturday that he was leaving and would be joining the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena. He referred to these as “rumours”.
Deora told reporters that he is having talks with his supporters, despite having recently voiced his disapproval over the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) staking a claim to the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency.
When asked if he is making any plans for people who support him, Milind Deora said, “I am listening to my supporters… Haven’t taken a decision yet.”
Announcing his resignation on X, he said, “I have tendered my resignation from the primary membership of Congress, ending my family’s 55-year relationship with the party. “I am grateful to all leaders, colleagues & karyakartas for their unwavering support over the years.”
Rahul Narwekar, the Speaker of Maharashtra, stated on Wednesday that “Shinde faction was the real Shiv Sena when rival factions emerged”.
While giving his landmark decision, the Speaker expounded extensively on the Shiv Sena’s constitution, declaring that “the decision of Paksha Pramukh cannot be taken as the political party’s decision.”
