Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, took aim at the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Centre on Thursday, calling the probe agency raids on opposition leaders “a dirty political game”. The leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) blasted the BJP, claiming that while it claims to want “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas,” what it really wants is “Sabka Sath, Sabka Satyanash.”
During a press conference in Kolkata, Mamata Banerjee also questioned why central investigative agencies have not been looking into the homes of BJP leaders. According to her, the prime minister ought to guarantee the preservation of “federalism,” or the division of powers within the government.
Commenting on ED raid on senior Congress Leader Ashok Gehlot, Banerjee said, “Ashok Gehlot is not from my party, why raid his house before the elections? I respect the judiciary. But some instructions to lower courts are coming from the BJP office. I request the Prime Minister, please see federalism is maintained.”
“They (agency) went to Firhad Hakim’s house, and they dumped sugar out of jars. They are taking pictures of all the sarees and cosmetics. But has any BJP leader’s house been raided yet?” she further added.
“Kya atyachar, kya anachar chal raha hai?” (What atrocities, lawlessness are going on?)… The BJP is playing a dirty game in the name of ED raids on opposition leaders across the country ahead of the Lok Sabha elections (in 2024). I want to ask whether there has been a single such raid at any BJP leader’s residence?” West Bengal CM mentioned.
