Delhi Police: Reports Claiming No Sufficient Evidence Found Against WFI Chief Wrong, Investigation Under Progress

Wrestlers Protest: The investigation into the sexual harassment case against WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is under progress and reports claiming that the Delhi Police has not found sufficient evidence are “wrong”, Officials said on Wednesday.

Investigation Under Progress

Taking to Twitter, the Delhi Police said, “Several media channels are running a story that the Delhi Police hasn’t found sufficient evidence in the cases registered against the Ex-President of WFI and a final report in the matter is due to be submitted before the concerned court. It is to clarify that this news is ‘wrong’ and the investigation into this sensitive case is under progress with all sensitivity.”

Delhi Police to submit report in next 15 days

However, the Delhi Police earlier said that it has not found any proof against Wrestling Federation of India Chief Brij Bhushan Rawat who is alleged of sexual harassment. According to a senior official Police will submit the report in court in the next 15 days.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh: I will hang myself

According to ANI, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh referring to the accusations of wrestlers said, “If a single allegation against me is proven, I will hang myself. If you (wrestlers) have any evidence, present it to the Court and I am ready to accept any punishment.

Union Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on wrestlers’ protest against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over sexual harassment allegations said, “The wrestlers should wait for Delhi Police to conclude their investigation and not take any steps that may cause harm to the sport or aspiring wrestlers. We all are in favour of the sport and sportspersons.”

Country’s top wrestlers halted their plan of immersing their medals in Ganga when stopped by the farmer leader Naresh Tikait. Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia sat near the banks of Ganga in Haridwar in silent protest against the BJP MP Brij Bhushan Rawat.
