Police claimed on Wednesday that a guy strangled his wife, whom he married after purchasing her for 70,000, and dumped her body in forest in Fatehpur Beri, southwest Delhi.
They stated Dharamveer, the accused husband, and two others, Arum and Satyavan, who assisted him in the murder, had been arrested.
A PCR call was received on Saturday regarding a woman’s body discovered in a forest near the Jheel Khurd boundary in Fatehpur Beri. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Chandan Chowdhary said police rushed to the scene and took body in possession.
Police initiated an inquiry into the issue, and the movement of an autorickshaw at roughly 1.40 a.m. on Saturday was found suspicious, he said.
The autorickshaw’s was tracked and its number was montiored. Its driver, Arun, a Chhatarpur native, was nabbed along Gadaipur Band road, according to the DCP.
Arun recognized the deceased as Sweety, Dharamveer’s wife. According to the police officer, he admitted that he and his brother-in-laws Dharamveer and Satyavan, both Nangloi residents, strangled Sweety and threw her body in the forest.
Arun stated that Dharamveer was dissatisfied with his wife’s behavior since she frequently eloped from her home for months without informing him.
He further claimed that no one knows anything about the victim’s parents or family background because Dharamveer married her by paying 70,000 to a woman, according to the DCP.
Sweety, according to the accused, never mentioned her parents or family members. According to authorities, she merely stated that she was from Patna, Bihar.
A complaint has been launched at Fatehpur Beri police station under sections 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence or giving false information to screen criminal), and 34 (common intention) of the India Penal Code in connection with the woman’s murder, they added.
The auto-rickshaw used in the crime has been seized, police said, adding that additional investigation into the matter is ongoing.
