Defence Ministry To Finalise US Predator Drone Deal Today

The high altitude drones with strike missiles hit enemy targets with extreme accuracy.

According to the Government Sources, The Defence Ministry is likely to decide a deal on acquiring US-made Predator drones at meeting on Thursday, June 15. They also mentioned that the deal was in consideration for a very long period but was put on hold to boost “Make In India” programme.

According to Reuters US government is nudging Modi government to bid yes to the deal before Prime Minister Modi’s visit to United States.

30 American Predator to be acquired

India will be acquire 30 American Predator high-altitude long-endurance drones of high strike capability that will also be including missiles. The drone will be used for surveillance near border areas and will be distributed among three services.

The MQ-9B Sea Guardian drones under discussion are produced by General Atomics, an American energy and defence firm. The high altitude drones with strike missiles hit enemy targets with extreme accuracy.

Two Drones on lease assisting Indian navy

Two predator drones that were leased from an American company are currently being used by India in assisting the Navy in keeping track of activities in the Indian Ocean region.
