Days after Odisha Train Crash, Major Train Accident Averted in Jharkhand

A tractor crashed the railway gate when it was closing at the Santhaldih railway crossing of the Bhojudih railway station in Bokoro district.

In Jharkhand Bokoro a serious train tragedy was avoided in on Tuesday evening when a tractor smashed into the railway gate near the Santhaldih railway crossing when the New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express was going through, said a railway official.

Train Driver applied break on time

The incident occurred near the Bhojudih railway station at the Santhaldih railway crossing, when the tractor crashed between the railway track and the gate. According to Manish Kumar, DRM, Adra Division, South Eastern Railway, “A tractor crashed the railway gate when it was closing at the Santhaldih railway crossing of the Bhojudih railway station in Bokoro district. However, the driver of the train applied the brakes and the train stopped, averting any major accident.”

FIR lodged and gateman suspended

As per the sources the incident happened around 5 pm after which the train was delayed for 45 minutes. The tractor driver fled away but the tractor has been seized and an FIR lodged and the gate man was suspended.

Nearly 300 people killed, 900 injured: Odisha Train Accident

Prior to this incident, one of the worst train accidents occurred on Friday evening when three trains Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express, Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express and a goods train laden with iron crashed into each other killing nearly 300 people and 900 injured.
