Congress Leader Mallikarjun Kharge Demands Freezing Of BJP’s Bank Account, Investigation into Electoral Bond

Kharge said, “Why have so many companies donated only after ED, IT and CBI raids? Who exerted the pressure on such companies?”

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded an investigation into the electoral bonds program and suggested that the BJP’s bank accounts be frozen until the investigation was finished On Friday.

After Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Income Tax department looked into a number of companies that donated to political parties under the electoral bonds system, he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP.

Kharge said, “Why have so many companies donated only after ED, IT and CBI raids? Who exerted the pressure on such companies?”

More than 15 of the top 30 companies that donated to the parties through the now-scrapped electoral bonds scheme were investigated by the agencies.

Future Gaming and Hotel Services, Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited, Haldia Energy Limited, Vedanta Limited, Yashoda Super Speciality Hospital, DLF Commercial Developers Limited, Jindal Steel and Power Limited, Chennai Greenwoods Private Limited, Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Limited, IFB Agro Limited, NCC Limited, Divi S Laboratory Limited, United Phosphorus India Limited, and Aurobindo Pharma are the companies that were investigated by central agencies.

The leader of the Congress party claimed that people subjected to ED and IT raids had joined the BJP and obtained positions inside the party. He said, “They have become immediately ‘clean’ in BJP,” according to the PTI news agency.

Furthermore, Mallikarjun Kharge said that data from the State Bank of India shows that the Congress received only 11% of all donations made through the electoral bonds system, whereas the BJP received nearly half of all donations.
