Cognizance Taken On Chargesheet Against Brijbhushan Singh, Magistrate Transferred Case To MP/MLA Court

Delhi Police filed chargesheet against the WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh who was booked under sections 354, 354A, and 354D of the Indian Penal Code in sexual abuse case. However CMM Mahima Singh has transferred the case to MP/MLA Court where the chargesheet will be taken into cognizance, according to the sources.

Hearing to be held in Rouse Avenue Court

CMM Mahima Rai Singh referred the case to ACMM Harjeet Singh Jaspal who will be hearing the case of taking cognizance of charge sheet filed against Brijbhushan Singh in the sexual abuse case. Hearing on chargesheet will be held in Rouse Avenue Court on June 27 at 2 pm.

A 1500 page charge sheet was filed

Delhi Police filed 1500 page charge sheet on complaint of 6 women wrestlers who accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual abuse.

Wrestlers’ protest started in January, 2023

In January 2023 Wrestlers’ protest started at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi after Female wrestlers accused WFI Chief of sexual harrasment. A committee was formed to look into the matter after which the protest were called off. However, due to authority’s inactions India’s top wrestlers including Sakshee Malikh, Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia resumed the protest on April 23, 2023. The protesting wrestlers have accused the government of building pressure to call off the protest against the WFI chief.
