In 1998, during an anti-terror operation, the 50-year-old Head Constable of the Border Security Force, Lal Fam Kima, saved the lives of twelve of his colleagues before he succumbed to his injuries late on Wednesday while retaliating against the latest ceasefire violation by Pakistan Rangers.
Lal Fam Kima, who was deployed in the BSF on April 21, 1996, passed away from injuries he sustained from Pakistan Rangers firing without cause while they were deployed close to the international border in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
The BSF appropriately responded to the breach of the ceasefire along the international border in the Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba district by initiating firing on the intervening night of November 8–9.
In an anti-terror operation carried out once in 1998 in the hilly town of Gool in the Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, Kima’s bravery prevented the deaths of 12 BSF personnel, according to BSF Deputy Inspector General SS Mand, who is currently stationed in Sundernbani, Jammu and Kashmir, who spoke with ANI.
