Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal will visit Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav in Lucknow today as part of the AAP’s efforts to gather support against the Centre’s ordinance on control of services in Delhi.
Kejriwal reaching out Non-BJP leaders
Mr Kejriwal, the founder of Aam Aadmi Party has been approaching leaders of non-BJP parties to get their support against the ordinance so that if the Centre’s tries to replace it by passing a bill gets defeated in it’s attempt. Sanjay Singh,a Rajya Sabha member from AAP, is expected to accompany Mr Kejriwal for the meeting, a Samajwadi Party spokesman said.
SC handed over the control to elected government
On May 19, The Centre had brought into effect the ordinance to create an authority for the transfer and posting of Group-A officers in Delhi, which the according to AAP government is a violation of Supreme Court’s verdict on control of services.
Prior to verdict Lieutenant Governor controlled postings
A week before the Supreme Court turned over control of services in Delhi to the elected government, with the exception of police, public order, and land. Prior to the top court’s verdict on May 11, postings and transfers of all officers in the Delhi government were under control of Lieutenant Governor.
