Air India
The aviation watchdog, DGCA, fined Air India ₹ 10 lakh for not adhering to regulations regarding the facilities that must be offered to passengers. This includes not compensating foreign business-class passengers who were forced to travel in unusable seats.
The regulator found that Air India was not adhering to the relevant Civil Aviation Regulation (CAR) after conducting inspections of airlines at the airports in Delhi, Kochi, and Bangalore.
The DGCA stated in a statement on Wednesday that it had determined that Air India had not complied with the CAR’s requirements after reviewing the airline’s response to the show-cause notice.
These include “not providing hotel accommodation for passengers affected by delayed flights, non-training of some of their ground personnel as per the stipulations, and non-payment of compensation to international business class passengers who were made to travel on unserviceable seats,” stated the statement.
The regulator has levied a ₹ 10 lakh fine for these violations.
Air India did not immediately provide a statement.
Air India was fined ₹ 10 lakh by the regulator last year for failing to follow the Civil Aviation Regulation’s (CAR) guidelines regarding passenger denial of boarding.
