Azam Khan Shares Struggles; Declines Bihar Polls Amid Security Concerns

Former Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister and Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan arrived in Kithor, Meerut, today to attend a wedding ceremony.

He expressed deep emotions, saying that years of hiding and running from the police had deprived him of joy.

Azam Khan stated that he came to share in the happiness, having been kept away from such moments for so long.

He recounted how police pursued him relentlessly, with drums and trumpets marking his movements.

Azam Khan reflected on his past. He said authorities filed new cases just as the court was about to grant him bail.

The Supreme Court took the matter seriously and expressed displeasure, calling the actions an insult to the judiciary.

He explained that the Supreme Court granted him immediate bail under a special provision.

A similar situation arose this time, with three additional sections added to his case to block his release. Despite the government’s efforts, he remains free today.

Addressing his decision not to contest the Bihar elections, Azam Khan cited rampant lawlessness, or “Jungle Raj,” in the state.

He noted that even the Prime Minister and Home Minister had acknowledged the disorder, and he felt it was unsafe to enter the state, fearing harm.

On the topic of security, Azam Khan stated that no written instructions from the Home Ministry or any government representative confirmed protection.

He claimed that the armed men around him were not for his safety but were instead a threat.

Azam Khan also highlighted his dire financial situation, saying he had advertised his house and plot for sale without success.

Consequently, he could not afford security costs if he continued to use government protection.

Azam Khan highlighted his political and personal challenges. He emphasised his struggles with legal harassment, financial constraints, and security threats.
