The Ghazipur Literature Festival concluded on Sunday, November 9, with a vibrant celebration of ideas, culture, and consciousness.
The festival, which began on November 7 at Hotel The Clarks in Varanasi, turned the historic land of Ghazipur into a hub of literature, dialogue, and reflection.
CMD and Editor-in-Chief of Bharat Express, Upendra Rai, delivered a powerful address, urging society to pursue both intellectual growth and spiritual elevation.
He said, “We must progress towards modern values in life and rise to that height which elevates our spiritual altitude. We must also have the courage to stand up and raise our voice against injustice.”
CMD Rai reflected on the evolving role of the media in shaping public thought.
He observed that while mainstream media often fails to fulfil its responsibility, social media has emerged as a powerful platform for ordinary citizens.
“Social media has diversified communication and empowered the common man. Earlier, people never had such power in their hands,” he said.
Speaking on India’s unity in diversity, CMD Rai emphasised that the country’s strength lies in its ability to remain connected despite numerous challenges.
“Even after becoming a full democracy, something deep within keeps us together. That spirit prevents us from breaking apart,” he noted.
CMD Rai also addressed ideological divisions within society, asserting that both right-wing and left-wing thoughts are essential for balance.
“The world stands on dialectic and contradiction,” he explained. “Discussions must lead to conceptual clarity that restores our lost pride and faith.”
He described literature as a bridge between knowledge and consciousness, a means to rediscover the essence of Indian identity.
His speech inspired the audience to view freedom not only as political independence but as liberation of the soul through wisdom and empathy.
CMD Upendra Rai reaffirmed that literature remains a living force that shapes thought and strengthens democracy.
