6 dead, 40 Injured As 2 Trains Collide In Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram

The passenger train 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa and the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train collided. Three coaches on the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada train derailed as a result of the collision, according to railway authorities.

In the Vizianagaram district of Andhra Pradesh, a collision between two trains on Sunday caused a derailment that left six passengers dead and over forty injured.

The passenger train 08532 Visakhapatnam-Palasa and the 08504 Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train collided. Three coaches on the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada train derailed as a result of the collision, according to railway authorities.

“Bogies derailed after a train travelling along with passengers from Vizianagaram to Raigad hit a passenger train travelling on the same route from Visakapatnam to Palasa,” East Central Railway CPRO said.

“Injuries reported but figures yet to be known. Two trains were involved in the accident. The rescue and restoration process is on,” the railway official added.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s office said, “PM Modi spoke to Railway Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw and took stock of the situation in the wake of the unfortunate train derailment between Alamanda and Kantakapalle section.”

“Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected. The Prime Minister extends condolences to the bereaved families and prays that the injured recover soon,” the X post said.
