Up to four individuals have been apprehended in relation to the murder of journalist Vimal Kumar Yadav in Araria, Bihar. Araria SDPO Rampukar Singh confirmed that four suspects – Vipin Yadav, Bhavesh Yadav, Ashish Yadav, and Umesh Yadav – were detained by Raniganj police in different locations due to their alleged involvement in the journalist’s murder.

Among the eight individuals accused in the case, Bihar police reported that four have been taken into custody. Rupesh Yadav and Kranti Yadav, two of the accused, are currently incarcerated in Araria jail, with the police seeking their remand. The remaining two suspects are currently absconded.

JDU leader Neeraj Kumar said that the authorities successfully apprehended the suspects within 24 hours. Raids that led to arrests were conducted subsequent to the leads provided by the victim’s family. A comprehensive investigation was conducted, and it is imperative that the opposition discusses this aspect as well, not solely the criminal act.

Vimal Kumar Yadav, a journalist at a local newspaper, was fatally shot at his residence in Araria. Unidentified assailants knocked on his door and fired at him before fleeing the scene.

Ashok Kumar Singh, Superintendent of Police in Araria stated, “In the Raniganj Bazar area, a journalist namely Vimal Kumar Yadav was shot dead by unidentified miscreants. A post-mortem is underway. The dog squad has been called to the murder spot. An investigation is on.”

Two years ago, Vimal’s sibling, who held the position of Sarpanch, met a similar fate. These two incidents are suspected to be connected, as Vimal was a key witness in his sibling’s murder.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar responded to the incident, assuring that law enforcement is diligently investigating the case. Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Ashwini Kumar Choubey criticized the Bihar government’s handling of the situation, stating that the prevailing situation in Bihar lacks proper law and order.
