2008 Mumbai Terror Attack Mastermind Azam Cheema Dies In Pakistan: Sources

Top intelligence sources said that Azam Cheema, a senior commander of the terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and a major conspirator in the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, passed away in Pakistan’s Faisalabad city from a heart attack.

According to media reports, Cheema was the mastermind behind the 2006 Mumbai train explosions that left 188 people dead and over 800 injured.

The US authorities sought him for allegedly providing training to the terrorists who executed the 2008 attacks, which claimed the lives of 166 people among which six of them were Americans. Cheema’s funeral was held in Malkhanwala, Faisalabad, the sources said.

Ten terrorists from Pakistan reached the southern regions of Mumbai on November 26, 2008, via the sea, and launched several attacks, one of which targeted the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel.

Along with 18 security personnel, 166 individuals were killed in the indiscriminate attack.
