At an electoral meeting on Sunday in Medarametla, near Addanki in the Bapatla district, chairman of the YSR Congress Party and Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy two people lost their lifes in two different instances.
Murali Krishna, a 35-year-old municipal worker, passed away from sudden cardiac arrest, according to the police. By the time the ambulance got to the hospital, Krishna had passed away.
The other passenger on the bus, meantime, collapsed and instantly passed away.
Although a case has not yet been filed, the police are looking into the situation. There were claims that the large-scale political gathering resulted in a stampede. Police, however, denied the allegations and stated that if there had been a stampede, officers stationed in the galleries would have been called in to put an end to it, and that’s not what happened, according to news agency PTI.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) asserted earlier in the day that alcohol was given out to guarantee participation at YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s open forum in Addanki.
The TDP, led by former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh Chandrababu Naidu, posted a video showing multiple males sitting inside a bus and carrying alcohol bottles.
The YSRCP led by Jagan Mohan Reddy asserted that over 15 lakh people showed up for the “Siddham” (ready) public gathering.
