Renowned art director and production designer Nitin Chandrakant Desai passed away on Wednesday at the age of 57. Nitin Desai’s body was found hanging in ND Studio. The police is investigating the case. Recently, the court had accepted the bankruptcy petition against his company ND Studio. Close friends of Desai say that he was in debt. He had a debt of about Rs 252 crore. It is being told that Nitin committed suicide due to financial constraints and mental stress. In such a situation, the question arises that what is the reason behind Nitin’s suicide?
According to the information, Desai’s company ND’s Art World Pvt. Ltd had taken a loan of Rs 85 crore from ECL Finance in 2016 and 2018. Repayment problems started from January 2020 onwards. The situation got so worse court accepted the bankruptcy petition against the company. Earlier on July 25, the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) accepted a petition to start the process of declaring ND Studio Company bankrupt. According to NCLT, on March 31, 2021, ECL had declared the company’s account as NPA. As on June 30, 2022, the company had a total debt of Rs 252.48 crore. Nitin was very upset because of the loan. Desai’s company said on May 7 massive fire broke out at studio. Due to this, company faced huge loss but still the creditors sent him a recovery notice.
What did the police find from Nitin’s house?
Police has found a mobile phone from Nitin’s house, which has an recorded audio. 4 people have been mentioned in the fore mentioned audio. Police is speculating that mental stress and pressure could be one of the reasons why Nitin committed suicide. Their statement will be recorded soon.
Nitin Desai’s luxurious ND Studio
According to reports, in the year 2005, Nitin Desai founded ND Studio. After searching a lot of locations, he got land in Karjat. This studio is spread over 52 acres. Apart from indoor, it also has outdoor shooting option. Studio is located at Karjat Road in Khalapur in Maharashtra. It is said that it was a dream abode for Nitin. Nitin used to spend most of his time in this studio. The studio was about to be taken away from Nitin as he was under debt.
Hollywood film director Oliver Stone had come to India some days back and with Nitin Desai visited Ladakh, Udaipur and Maharashtra for nine days. Actually, Oliver Stone was to make Alexander-The Great film with Brad Pitt, some part of which was to be shot in India. However, due to non-availability of a good studio, this project could not take off in India, following Nitin Desai maintained the ND Studio, which has an indoor floor of 25,000 square feet.
Nitin was about to celebrate his birthday after a week
It was Nitin’s birthday after a week. Famous art director of Marathi industry Sumit Desai told that Nitin wanted to make a Disney level studio. He told that Nitin was busy with the shooting work till a day ago. 7th August being Sunday he was about to celebrate his birthday on 6th of August.
What happened last night at ND Studio?
Nitin went to his room at around 10 pm, but the door did not open in the morning. Nitin’s bodyguard told that everything was normal till night. After going into his room he did not come out for a long time in the morning. When we knocked on the door, there was no response from inside. When seen from the window, Desai’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Police has sent the dead body for postmortem. Statements of 10 people have been recorded by so far.
Many Bollywood celebs have committed suicide
Incidents like suicide have increased in Bollywood and entertainment world. In the last 5 years, many film stars, TV actors and actresses have committed suicide. However, cases vary. Some are private and some are related to the industry. Nitin is not the first person who has committed suicide. Actress Vaishali Thakkar of hit serials like Sasural Simar Ka also committed suicide on October 16, 2022, a few days before her marriage in Indore. The reason beind was a blackmailer who was constantly extorting money from her. Thakkar also wrote 8-page suicide note before her death citing the reason.
Common reason behind suicide
According to WHO, behind every case of suicide some or the other reason is definitely hidden. However, one reason is common behind every suicide and that is the deep despair buried in the mind. Committing suicide is not a disease, there can be many reasons behind it. The most common of these reasons are depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorder or stress over an event that the person has not been able to forget. People lose their courage due to dire circumstances. He feels that he will not be able to face those problems and in such situation, he panics and considers suicide as the only solution.
