Ira Khan Opens Up About Her Depression Says, “I have Mental Health Disorders In My Family”

Ira Khan, the daughter of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan and his ex-wife Reena Dutta, is one of the few famous children who have decided not to work in Bollywood and stay away from the glamorous world. Ira Khan is a well-known face on social media who has earned a large following with her charming personality and jolly nature.

The star kid has recently been in the headlines after launching the Agastu Foundation, an NGO that tries to serve persons suffering from all types of mental health conditions.

Ira on depression

In a recent interview, the celebrity kid, who was diagnosed with clinical depression five years ago, opened up about her long fight with the condition and the care she received from her parents Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta. Ira Khan further disclosed that both Aamir and Reena serve on the Agastu Foundation’s advisory board. According to Ira, her father assisted her in establishing the NGO until she secured adequate funds.

Ira Khan, who shared her depression experiences, claimed that she saw various changes in her behavior, including frequent sobbing and skipping meals for several days. “My mum pointed out that I didn’t want to be alive, so I would just sleep my day away so that I would have fewer hours to live in a day,” Ira revealed in an interview.

Ira Khan also discussed how heredity played a factor in her sadness and disclosed that her family has a history of mental health difficulties. “Every 8-10 months I will have a big crash. It’s partly genetic, partly psychological, and partly social. It took me a while to figure it out. But I have mental health disorders in my family. I also did not make healthy choices and I systematically walked into depression,” stated by Aamir Khan’s daughter.

Ira’s new initiative is capturing the attention of her fans and netizens. Social media users are now praising Aamir Khan and Reena Dutta’s daughter for creating the Agastu Foundation and publicizing her mental health issues, which were previously considered a significant social taboo.
