The Indian premiere of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, starring Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and others, was a great success. Early estimates indicate that the movie made  Rs 13.50 crores nett on day one, making it the largest opening day for a Hollywood movie in India this year, beating out titles like Fast X and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1. These collections have mainly come from metropolitan areas and large cities, but that doesn’t imply it hasn’t performed well outside of those areas because theaters in small villages have also seen strong foot traffic.

This week, with the release of the two biggest movies of the year and a historic actors’ strike, Hollywood seems more central to the universe than ever.

As their simultaneous release date has finally arrived, anticipation for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has reached a fever pitch.

About Oppenheimer

The American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, well renowned for his role in developing the atomic bomb, is profiled in   Oppenheimer. Christopher Nolan’s best and most insightful film Oppenheimer is  a really unnerving tale delivered with a traditionalist’s eye for detail and a strong, cinematic imagination.

As their simultaneous release date has finally arrived, anticipation for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer has reached a fever pitch. Barbie is predicted to surpass Oppenheimer in terms of ticket sales even if the former has surpassed it in terms of critical acclaim and has a nearly perfect Rotten Tomato score.

In the US, Barbie is anticipated to bring in $110 million on its opening weekend, while Oppenheimer is anticipated to bring in $50 million.

It’s interesting to note that Oppenheimer is becoming increasingly popular in India while Barbie continues to rule the US box office. This is likely because Christopher Nolan is widely regarded as one of the best directors of his time. At the same time, Oppenheimer has been hailed as Nolan’s finest achievement .
