US: Mother Throws 5-Year-Old Out Of House, Later Girl Found Raped And Dead

The New York Post reported that the girl’s life was “turbulent” at her Kansas home. The child was reportedly seen running around “unsupervised” by neighbours as well.

According to New York Post report, a five-year-old American girl from Kansas was thrown out of the house and later raped and killed at a campsite. Mickel W. Cherry, the suspect, was detained on Tuesday and charged with killing and raping a victim under the age of 14. He will show up in court on December 21 and is being held under a $2 million bond.

The source claims that on October 2, Zoey Felix was discovered with serious injuries at a petrol station. After being taken to the hospital, she was pronounced dead. According to the neighbours who spoke with the Topeka Capital-Journal, Mr. Cherry and other family members formerly resided in the same home as Zoey. The mother of the five-year-old reportedly ordered everyone to get out of the home following which they stayed at a campsite at a mile away. It should be noted that it is unclear how the accused and Zoey’s mother are related.

The New York Post reported that the girl’s life was “turbulent” at her Kansas home. The child was reportedly seen running around “unsupervised” by neighbours as well. They said that members of the neighbourhood helped to keep her clean and provided her with basic care, such as bathing, food, and clothing. Zoey didn’t go to school either.

In court documents from March, Zoey’s mother admitted guilt of using a dangerous weapon in a violent manner on a child who was born in 2018, according to documents cited by the Capital Journal. For the same, she was sentenced to 18 months of “supervised probation”.

In a GoFundMe post for funeral expenses, Zoey’s uncle described her as a “sweet, funny, and goofy little girl who had a great smile and laugh that lit up the world.”

A neighbour, Sharon William, said, “Zoey did not deserve to be in anybody’s woods. This is her home right here. She has one, two, three, four, five people that would do anything for her.” Another neighbour said that she would often come to her asking for something to eat. “It was always ‘Can I stay? Can I stay? Normally when a kid is persistent about staying like that, something’s going on at home,” Shaniqua Bradley remarked.
